Welcome to the website of the Most Worshipful
Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina. Please feel
free to browse any section of interest. You will find information of
current events, historical events, news, location of lodges,
educational materials and many other items of interest.
The 273rd Annual Communication of our Grand Lodge
is now history. We are now less than two years away from celebrating
our 275th year of our Grand Lodge. Plans for this event have been
underway for over a year. The committee has been working to insure
all goes well. In the meantime, our Grand Lodge will be the host
this year of the 50th Anniversary of the Southeastern Masonic
Conference. Other member Grand Lodges, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,
Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee will all be
converging on Mount Pleasant for this historic meeting. Freemasonry of South Carolina is the home of Dr.
Albert G. Mackey, the renown author of many Masonic books and
publications; Rev. Frederick Dalcho, one of the first members of The
Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and its second
Sovereign Grand Commander; and Joel R. Poinsett, for whom the
beautiful Christmas Poinsettia is named.

PAST GRAND MASTERS’ PORTRAITS
If you have ever visited and
toured our Grand Lodge facilities, you have seen the many Past Grand
Master portraits on display. We have portraits from the 18th
through the 21st centuries. Regrettably, nevertheless,
there are several portraits our Grand Lodge does not have, yet a
portrait of the brother does exist elsewhere. These portraits may be
in a private collection, a museum, courthouse, statehouse or other
prominent location.
I would like to expand our
collection of portraits at the Grand Lodge building and need your
assistance. It is possible to reproduce some of the missing
portraits. If you, your lodge, separate group, district or Masonic
organization would like to take on a portion of this project, please
contact me and we will discuss what portraits are in need and what
plan of action to take. To your left, click on Past Grand Masters
and you will see a list telling you which portraits are missing. You
may know the location of one of these portraits. It may be in
someone's home or office. Through your efforts we could add to our
collection. Even if we add only one portrait, that one is important.
